Jude!

Here is Jude trying on the hat I bought him in Salzburg! I love this kid!!

Cafe (delicious!)

So, besides photography, my great love is coffee. Right now I'm working for Starbucks and loving it. Someday, I would love to own my own coffee shop and use it also as a gallery space. I really enjoy making coffee and take pride in it. Anyway, my mom has a little Starbucks espresso machine and I make myself drinks on it every once and a while. Here is one of the latest!

Oktoberfest 2008!

One of the highlights of my trip was experiencing Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany!
All of us girls with Fritz! The guy who made Oktoberfest possible! Not to mention our gorgeous Austrian dresses!
Everyone at Oktoberfest is supposed to wear these. They are gingerbread hearts.
OMW. The best mashed potatoes and bratwurst I've ever had!
All of us with our server!
Calf warmers!!! Yikes!

More Europe.

My first Italian Cappuccino!
Oh no. McCafe made it all the way to Prague....
Rome.
Vatican City!
Some Piazza in Rome.

Becky's Art.

First - Don't worry! More Europe photos to come!

So, Becky's Art....

My dear friend Becky is trying to get some part time jobs using her art minor and needed a digital portfolio. That's where I come in! I took photos of most of her artwork so she could have something to show potential clients or anyone who wants to see her work!

Here's an example:

New Camera!

Now, don't get too excited...I didn't get a new SLR - just a new point and shoot. It is actually my first digital point and shoot! Yikes! It almost feels like I'm going backwards except there's a reason for this purchase! I'm leaving for Europe a week from today, September 23rd! I decided that I didn't want to be lugging around my 20D and lenses to four different countries so I bought a little baby camera. As much as I would love to bring all my gear and take photos every second I have to be realistic...that's too much stuff! Plus I wouldn't want any of it to get stolen - sure I have insurance, but who wants to go through that?

This picture is taken with my new camera, it also shows my new haircut with new highlights! :)

Lincoln City 2008

Back in mid-August was Family Reunion time! This is when all the Schumachers get together and relax on the Oregon Coast for 4 days! Being the photographer of the family I'm basically there documenting everything! I really enjoy these reunions because all I do is relax, take photos, hang out with fam, eat great food, and drink great wine. This year was especially great weather and the Olympics were on! Couldn't ask for a better combination! Here's some photos!

It's been WAY too long...my apologizes!

Update, update update!

Graduation was so incredibly amazing! My parents, grandparents, and Uncle Ralph came down. They helped me pack up and clean my apartment. Which was so wonderful because all the other times I moved while living in CA I had to do it all myself. The weather was so stinkin' hot! In Santa Paula it got up to 100 degrees (ew!) The ceremony itself was pretty good. After graduating we all went to The Habit one last time and then started on the road at 1pm. My uncle rode with me and we didn't stop except for gas or the bathroom. We got back to Bonney Lake, Washington (where he lives) at around 8am the next day. I was so incredibly tired!! I went back to Des Moines, to my parent's house, then took a shower and went to bed! When I was finally semi aware of my surroundings I examined the damage that was my old room. Since last Christmas my family has used my room as a storage area. Therefore, there was so much random crap in my room!! First I had to take all that stuff out before I could unload my dad's truck and my car. Oh, I almost forgot - I had so much stuff in California that I had to leave a bunch of big furniture! I had to leave my bed, desk, bookshelf, and bedside table! I also had to leave a bunch of random stuff. Such a sad day! I was mostly only sad about my bed because I had such a great mattress! My mattress here isn't comfortable at all! I've been sleeping on my sisters bed because I can't get a wink on that bed! Hopefully I'll be getting a new one soon!

Since being home I've done a lot, but also relaxed a lot! I didn't start working at Starbucks until July 4th, so I had a almost two weeks of vacation all together. After starting in Burien I found out that my wonderful manager was moving back to Santa Barbara, CA and would be leaving! I was sad to have her leave but I know she was needed more in SB! We got our new manager on the 14th and she is wonderful!!!!!! Amy has been with the company for over 10 years and really knows her stuff - not to mention she is so cool! Starbucks has been good. Adjusting to this new store has been great. Since I worked at this same one last summer some of the same partners are still there. It was comforting seeing familiar faces. Overall I'm excited to be there and can't wait to start my journey to becoming an assistant manager!

Photography...you must be wondering what I'm doing in that area, eh? Well, I hadn't taken photos in a long, long while! I think the last day that I shot something was June 7th. Then I didn't even pick up my camera til last weekend when I shot a wedding. I think I just really needed a few weeks to detach it from my hip so that I wouldn't get sick of it! Sure I love photography, but there comes a point when you need a break from something before you end up hating it. You know? So, I shot this wedding on Saturday July 19, 2008. Recie and Victor! I recently got a job working for Events with Integrity. I will be a contract photographer. This wedding was my first solo wedding!! EEK! I am also assisting another wedding this Saturday.

Mela Rossa Foto updates - I still have SO much work to do - at least I feel like I do. I need to make all my paper materials: business cards, postcards/mailers, letterhead, logo, etc...I really just need to get organized. I am looking forward to doing some shoots in the future. I'm hoping to get a lot of senior portraits as August and September roll around. I'm thinking of sending out an email to have friends and family refer me to someone and receive $50, sound like a good idea?

Anyway, that's pretty much where I'm at these days. Updates to come! Here is one photo from the wedding.

Slowly but surely

Slowly but surely my site is getting updated. Right now I'm about 2/3 of the way done! Here's a photo of the splash page. Actually my website is live, but it's not complete. So if you would like to see any progress that I've made, feel free!
